Bike Lanes in Delhi

written by rohan_kini on June 3rd, 2008 @ 08:40 PM

bicycle lanes, Delhi – India

Marcus, a biker from Delhi, recently sent us a snap of the new bike lanes in Delhi.
They are apparently planning such lanes across the city. Marcus did mention that the non-bikers were not too happy about this as it further reduced road space.

Its good to see a bike lane, but i feel its bit too wide considering our indian road standards.Coz the bike lane + the pavement is the usual length of our roads :P

Yes, that's quite a wide bike lane... but then, there's no other way to pass that fridge on wheels in the photo. They should make the lanes exactly one inch narrower than an autorickshaw's wheelbase though - otherwise you know what will happen!

Ya that width should do......... nice :)

Good to see Delhi govt have taken up project of making cycling lanes again. I have also seen cycle sign on the footpaths at some parts in Delhi, with up and down ramps. Same design is present in Navi Mumbai also. However, true to Mumbai's habit of encroachment, most of the footpaths have majically converted to pan-galla, tea stall and likes

Gautam - yup. Thats why folks are cribbing there. Haha .. yeah .. I have seen autos on footpaths in Bangalore !
